These photos from the 2019 International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition show that the world is a beautiful place.
This was my favourite, showing the horrific distances and complete desolation of the desert in central Australia. Sometimes, I forget the weird population density of Australia: in a geographic region around the size of Europe (excluding Russia) it has a population a little bigger than Romania. Yet at the same time, almost everyone in Australia is very urbanized: even Australia’s second biggest cities, Melbourne, is bigger than anything in the European Union.
