I spoke with Manx Radio yesterday about stopping rules breaches before they happen. First and foremost, we need to stay safe, and harsh punishments after the fact aren’t very good at that. Secondly, the justice system needs to be fair and consistent.

The chair of Liberal Vannin says people need to be prevented from breaking coronavirus restrictions, before they wind up in court.

It’s as some of those who have been found to have breached self-isolation have been handed suspended sentences, and others; jail time.
