Josem joins growing list of candidates

The chair of Liberal Vannin has added his name to a growing list of candidates for the upcoming Douglas South by-election.

Michael Josem announced he wants to stand this afternoon, in a bid to replace LibVan counterpart, Kate Costain, who resigned from the House of Keys this week.

The Chair of the Liberal Vannin party has entered the contest to become an MHK for Douglas South.

Michael Josem – a Douglas resident of nearly 10 years – is also a volunteer and member of numerous community groups including Isle of Man Foodbank, Douglas Rugby Club and the Positive Action Group.

Speaking about his intentions to stand, Mr Josem says: “People have encouraged me to stand because they’ve said that our community needs a strong voice in Tynwald. I will fight for local jobs, fight for local health services and be a strong voice for the people of Douglas South.

LibVan chair to stand for Douglas South

Four people have so far announced they intend to stand in Douglas South.

Michael Josem, the chairman of the Liberal Vannin Party, announced he would stand this afternnon.

He says he is a volunteer and member of many local community organisations such as the Isle of Man Foodbank, Douglas Rugby Club, Isle of Man Business Network, Douglas Basketball Club, Friends of Manx National Heritage, Manx Netball Association, Positive Action Group, Isle of Man Basketball Association, Isle of Man Woodland Trust, Castletown Hockey Club and the Celtic League.

Michael Josem is a long-term consumer advocate, most prominently as a global leader in combating fraud in the online gambling industry. He was in part the inspiration for the 20th Century Fox Movie, Runner Runner, starring Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake.

Josem has over a decade of experience as a senior business leader working across various high-tech and online industries, and takes action to build a better community. His primary volunteer roles include service for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and Graih, the homelessness charity.
