Today, we’re releasing our manifesto to provide a strong voice for Douglas South. This has benefited from the contributions of many different people – people who all share a great passion for our community.

It is centered around three key themes:

  • Securing jobs
  • Protecting health
  • Easing the squeeze on household budgets

It’s important to recognise that this by-election is not about electing a new Government. The Chief Minister and his team will remain in office, regardless of who is elected on 27 August. Instead, this election is about electing a member of Tynwald who will be a strong voice for Douglas South.

Some of the ideas in this manifesto are around pushing the Government to introduce new ideas, such as ramping up testing for Coronavirus to keep our island safe. Some of the ideas in this manifesto are about pushing the Government to honour their word, such as making the Glencrutchery Road bus lane only temporary.

It is impossible to achieve all of this in the twelve months remaining in the life of this Tynwald, so in that respect, the manifesto reflects not just our destination, but our direction.

Our destination is to secure the Isle of Man as a shining lighthouse in a stormy world.

Join us on August 27, and send a message to build a secure future for our Isle, whichever way we are thrown.

Yours sincerely,

MICHAEL JOSEM
