One of the things that strikes me about late Queen Elizabeth is that she appeared to aspire to a very Christian idea, and life, of leadership: she appeared to model her life by being a servant, not a ruler. Her life was not about imposing her will on others, but on loving service to her people.

In many ways, that’s a very Christian model of leadership: Before Jesus came along, people thought that Gods and Kings were the high and the mighty, but the core message of the New Testament shows us that He is for the weak and powerless and victims.

Once upon a time, well before Elizabeth, the role of monarchs was to be the high and mighty rulers, but she dedicated her life to service to others.

This is also very similar in model to Servant Leadership, an outstanding book that I’ve read repeatedly in my life. This book talks about leadership not as being a “boss”, but rather as a servant of your teams.
