DOUGLAS, Isle of Man– 3 June 2021 Local Douglas resident, Michael Josem, today announced that he will be the Liberal Vannin candidate for Douglas East in the Isle of Man General Election to be held on 23 September 2021.

Michael Josem said:

I have been fortunate to serve our island community as a volunteer for the Foodbank, local sporting teams and many other not-for-profit organisations. That’s why many local residents have encouraged me to stand as a candidate for Douglas East – I’m running for all of us.

Our campaign for Douglas East is about bouncing back better from the pandemic to build and rebuild our community organisations, to build our island as a shining beacon when much of the world faces stormy seas.

Our campaign is for all of us – if your family has lived on the Isle of Man for thousands of years and if you’re a new arrival. Our campaign is about bouncing back better with a renewed focus on fairness, freedom, and most of all, a focus on our community.

I’m one of the luckiest people in the world.

I was born in a great country and moved to an even better one.

More than a decade ago, I came to the Isle of Man for work, and stayed for life.

Life here is about our shared community, our shared teams, which are important for all of us.

I’ve been fortunate to serve our island community as a volunteer for the food bank, local sporting teams, and other not for profit organisations.

That’s why many local residents have encouraged me to stand as a candidate for Douglas East in the election on 23 September.

I’m running for all of us.

Douglas East is the heart of our island and the home of many of our community organisations. But many of them are struggling.

Since I moved to Douglas Prom more than a decade ago, many of our sporting teams, service clubs and places of worship have suffered falling numbers.

Even our pubs are struggling, traditionally the place where our community came together to celebrate our wins, and commiserate our losses.

Our campaign for Douglas East is about bouncing back better from the pandemic to build and rebuild our community organisations. To build our island as a shining beacon, when much of the world faces stormy seas.

Others have spent a lot of time talking about buying local about conducting financial transactions locally here in the Isle of Man. That’s necessary, but not sufficient.

We think it is time to move beyond that. So that we do not just buy local, but so that we can serve local, play local, meet local, and most of all, so that we can love local.

Our campaign is for all of us: If your family has lived on the Isle of Man for thousands of years, and if you’re a new arrival.

Our campaign is about bouncing back better with a renewed focus on fairness, freedom, and most of all, a focus on our community.
