To celebrate “National Burger Day” on Thursday 25 August, the cafe at Tynwald Mills made a “Haggis Burger”.

It was an absurd burger – with an awful lot happening. A fried haggis patty, on a beef patty, with onion, lettuce, and what I thought was a very decent mayonnaise-based sauce. Then, peppercorn sauce served on the side, with chips.

I think that the idea was that people would pour the peppercorn sauce on the burger, but there was already far too much happening for my taste.`

It was a genuinely huge burger, and hardly something you would eat repeatedly… but it was a fun spectacle for a special occasion.
