In late November 2023, with a week off work, I had the opportunity to visit Oxford and Blenheim Palace.
Wandering through the town of Oxford was pretty, but I can’t imagine why anyone would want to live there given the choice: traffic was horrendous (even late into the evening) for such a small city, and the cost of housing seems to be exaggerated due to excessive restrictions on supplying much-wanted homes.
I had the opportunity to both wander through Oxford and then visit Blenheim Palace. Visiting Blenheim Palace was an excellent activity – I realise in hindsight that I had previously been on the estate grounds at the time of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, but at that time, I hadn’t toured the palace itself.
Ahead of Christmas, the formal gardens had been lit up with a truly impressive set of lights: it was an impressive spectacle, and although I think that I’m not the exact target audience, it was an excellent experience. If you have the opportunity to go through the Christmas Light show, you should take it!
