At just after 9.30am this morning, I sent the following email to the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading:
Hello IOM Office of Fair Trading,
The Isle of Man Government has announced “a school bus fare for users of Go School travel cards will rise to 50p from today (Wednesday 21 February).”
You can see this online here:
https://www.gov.im/news/2024/feb/21/school-bus-fare-increase-to-support-subsidised-service/
However, Isle of Man Bus and Rail continues to advertise on their website a different, lower, price.
You can see that online here:
https://www.iombusandrail.im/timetables-routes-and-fares/go-cards/go-school/
A screenshot is reproduced below.
Could you please investigate Bus Vannin and the Isle of Man for pricing advertisements that are self-evidently misleading?
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Email to Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading, 21 February 2024, 9:32am

The attachment:

In hindsight, my last sentence above has an obvious typo: it should, of course, refer to “Bus Vannin and the Isle of Man Government”.
